Arteta praises Tavares for good starting. Arsenal manager Mikel Artta has hailed the performance of new left-back Nuno Tavares as “wonderful”.

The Gunners played a warm-up with a fun 2-2 draw with Rangers on Saturday, with Arteta referring to the new full-back as having a “very satisfying performance” after the game. 

“It’s a good start as well as a shot with his right foot,” Arteta said after the game.

“He just moved in with us a few days ago. But you can see his quality. His physical condition and then saw the quality of playing with the ball he had in him. He blends in really well with the team. So it’s a good start.”

Tavares joined the Gunners from Benfica, with the player playing in a warm-up game before scoring for the London club in the 23rd minute of the game.
