Cooper retired from Swansea

Cooper retired from Swansea. Steve Cooper has made the decision to step out of his role as Swansea manager at the Championship club, the club has confirmed.

Cooper, 41, was appointed as the Reds’ boss in the summer of 2019. And led the Welsh club to the Championship play-offs throughout his two seasons.

A club statement read: “Swansea City can confirm that head coach Steve Cooper has made the decision to leave the club.”

Cooper has 12 months left on the three-year deal. He signed when he arrived at Liberty Stadium in the summer of 2019.

Cooper was linked with the vacant managerial positions at Crystal Palace and West Brom earlier this summer. But most recently, both clubs have new bosses.

Cooper’s departure comes as Swansea will open the season in the Championship away to Blackburn on August 7, in just 17 days.
